Mike Piazza was the Guest of Honor at a fundraiser- CIGAR NIGHT- hosted by the Italian American Baseball Foundation at Bourbon Street on Bell Blvd. Msgr. Tom’s was able to partake in the festivities of the evening  thanks to the generosity of  his former student and altar boy form his days at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, PHIL MONACO. Sacred Heart parishioner, PETE MEDINA, was also present at the festivities and Msgr. Tom had the opportunity to introduce Pete to Mike Piazza. Msgr. Tom and Mike’s friendship goes back to Mike’s playing days with the Mets. Msgr. Tom was the chaplain of the Mets for many years.  When Monsignor accepted a special assignment in Michigan he had to give up the chaplain role. Recently, the position of Mets chaplain opened again and he is once again the chaplain of the  New York Mets.
